National Collaboratory to Address
Elder Mistreatment
Elder mistreatment, including abuse, neglect, and exploitation, is a complex problem that requires coordinated action across healthcare, social services, community organizations, policy, and research.
The National Collaboratory to Address Elder Mistreatment brings national experts and partners together to strengthen prevention, identification, intervention, and response.
Its work includes developing and spreading the Elder Mistreatment Emergency Department (EMED) Toolkit and helping health systems integrate elder mistreatment identification and intervention into routine care. Building on this foundation, the Collaboratory is now mainstreaming elder justice into larger health and aging care systems—partnering with health systems, health plans, and states to embed elder mistreatment screening and response into everyday practice.
At UMass Boston, ACES brings together nationally recognized experts, implementation resources, educational opportunities, and collaborative learning focused on dementia care, caregiving, and elder safety.
Together, we will continue advancing practical, evidence-informed approaches that support older adults, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and organizations.
